Cultural Resources Identification and Effects Report for the 14th Street Viaduct (Structure no. 0900-016)

Hudson County and New Jersey Department of Transportation have participated in consultation with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and New Jersey State Historic Preservation Office (NJSHPO) in reaching a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in conformance with FHWA’s Section 106 responsibilities for the management of NJDOT-administered federally aid projects. Under this agreement, Hudson County will ensure that the treatment of historic properties and their settings are in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Hudson County’s initiatives include recordation of the original 14th Street Viaduct, protection of the Old Hillside Road Trolley Horseshoe Curve, and context sensitive design for a replacement viaduct compatible with Central Hoboken Historic District.
